Electrocutango![]() Electrocutango will perform on Saturday. Electrocutango has been described by the European press as one of the most dynamic, innovative and attractive expressions of Electro Tango. The album “Felino” is already considered a classic of electronic tango. The European tango festivals as well as milongas and clubs gave their CD “Felino” a warm welcome and rumors say Electrocutango is about to release a second CD… As opposed to traditional tango, improvisation is a central element in Electrocutango’s music. And unlike most electronic tangos, Electrocutango is basically tango blended with all the rest – not the other way around! Musicianship is of paramount importance. The electronics and beats are closely integrated into tango-spirit, where the core-values and aesthetic of the tango porteño is kept alive - without being calculated. And then a lot of fun and unexpected fusions are thrown on top and makes it a real ball! The Norwegian pianist and programmer Sverre Indris Joner has studied music both in Oslo and Havana. He early began to play and compose music, both classic and popular with emphasis on tango. He composed themes for ballet, theatre, and cinema and arranged numerous tangos and other Latin genres for symphonic orchestra. He is the founder of the quartet “Tango For 3” renowned for its interpretation of a wide range of titles from ABBA, James Bond, Grieg & Brahms to Salgan and Troilo. In 2003, Sverre performed in London together with the Argentine singer Julia Zenko, which was the beginning of Electrocutango. Some of their compositions won the EDVARD-award as part of the theatre piece “Tanghost”, where the Argentine dancer Pablo Veron also appeared. |
